Finnair launches Dublin to Helsinki flights

New link enables easy connections through to Asian destinations including Bangkok, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Xi’an

Leading European carrier, Finnair, today launched its inaugural service between Dublin and Helsinki, a journey which takes just three hours.
Finnair operates six flights a week between the two capital cities, using a 100-seat Embraer 190 aircraft and offering a convenient schedule timed to connect with the airline’s flights to Asia.

In further support of the Irish travel market and in response to demand Finnair has announced that the service will also continue during the winter schedule from October through to March 2016. The move will allow passengers the opportunity to visit Finland during this magical season and witness such sights as the Northern Lights in Finnish Lapland, while also continuing to offer convenient connections to destinations throughout their network.

Finnair, recently named as Europe’s most punctual airline in 2014, by FlightStats, offers convenient, quick and reliable transfers through Helsinki Airport, which has a minimum connection time of just 35 minutes.

Total flight times between Dublin and Beijing are just over 14 hours, Dublin to Tokyo just over 15 hours, Dublin to Hong Kong 13 hours and 25 minutes and Dublin to Bangkok 15 hours and 25 minutes, removing the need to fly through London Heathrow in order to connect to fast-growing Asian cities.

The Embraer 190 operated service features a Business and an Economy class. Checked-in baggage is included in all classes and Economy passengers can enjoy the airline’s Sky Bistro service which offers a wide selection of seasonal, high-quality food and beverage options combining the best of both Europe and Asia.

Fredrik Charpentier, Finnair Sales Director, United Kingdom and Ireland said, “Helsinki is a perfect destination to spend a long weekend or to visit for a business meeting. We are delighted to be linking with Dublin and looking forward to welcoming passengers on board our direct services while also offering the fastest and most convenient connections through to Asia via our award winning hub in Finland.” Fares direct to Helsinki start from €169 in economy and €759 in business, with flights departing at 09.50 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday; and 18.05 on Thursday and Saturday. There are no scheduled services on Tuesdays.
