Heathrow celebrates its one millionth Rewards member by giving away one million miles

This week sees Heathrow Rewards, the airport’s free loyalty programme, reach its one millionth member and to celebrate it is giving away a million miles.  Every swipe of a registered card with a qualifying transaction in November and December will count as one entry. 

Members can collect points on almost everything they do at Heathrow, from parking the car or taking the Heathrow Express to shopping and eating in the terminals and they enjoy rewards including airport shopping vouchers.  

Since the re-launch of the programme back in 2013, members can now also receive double free Wi-Fi - 90 minutes vs. 45 minutes for non-members - and enjoy Instant Rewards at a range of stores including World Duty Free, Jo Malone and Dixons Travel where points can be redeemed instantly for a discount. Points can also now be converted to miles with Etihad Guest in addition to existing partners Avios, British Airways Avios Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club and Miles & More.  

Whilst collecting the points to make the prizes, passengers have spent their travel cash on a variety of products at the airport, satisfying their need of the very best in beverages, luxury brands and sumptuous scents. In the last year alone, Heathrow Rewards members bought 14,765 bottles of Champagne, 168,426 bottles of perfume and 21,400 Chanel products.   

If that’s not impressive enough, last year Heathrow gave its loyalty members £1.2 million of vouchers to spend on their future visits to the airport and enough frequent flyer miles to get to the moon and back 23 times with over 11 million miles awarded.

“With passengers from more than 180 destinations passing through the airport a year, all wanting to make the most of what the airport has to offer, it’s imperative that we make sure our loyal and most frequent customers feel valued and I couldn’t think of a better way to do this than offer a million miles to spend with our partners.”  

For a chance to win, members need to simply swipe their registered Heathrow Rewards card for every qualifying transaction between 1 November and 31 December.  They will receive an entry for each transaction, so the more they use their card, the more chances they have to win.
