The new contracts represent an increase from five to eight flights a week, including a brand new route for the carrier from London Gatwick to Turin. The inaugural Turin service - contracted by specialist tour operators, Inghams and Esprit Ski - will operate weekly from mid December 2014 to mid April 2015 on Titan Airways’ Airbus A320-233.
The aircraft – which is being specifically modified to accommodate a higher density 180 seat configuration for its new role – will also be operating thrice weekly between London Gatwick and Chambery in the French Alps for the period.
In addition to the Airbus flight series, Titan Airways has been awarded contracts for a further four Chambery flights on one of their Boeing 757-200 aircraft, three originating in Stantsed and one in Birmingham.
The supplementary Chambery flights signify an increase in capacity for Titan Airways’ long standing customers Crystal Ski Holidays, Esprit Ski and Ski Total and include a new flight series on behalf of all-inclusive luxury hoteliers, Club Med.
“We are thrilled by the trust and loyalty shown by our ski tour operator partners, who play such a key role in our winter business,” said Alastair Kiernan, Titan Airways’ Commercial Director, “The new programme gives us a solid base for the winter, with the capacity for complementary charter and sub-charter operations, including departures direct from Gatwick with the Airbus.”
Besides the ski tour operator partnerships, Titan Airways operates regular charter flights in the summer months on behalf of Exclusive Escapes - specialist in luxury hotels and villas on Turkey’s Lycian Coast - niche tour operator, Corsican Places and Catholic pilgrimage experts, Tangney Tours.
