Malaysia Airlines reports highest seat load for a decade

Malaysia Airlines has achieved its highest seat load factor for ten years. The recently published traffic and capacity figures for June 2013 show growth and a seat load factor of 84.3%, a 7% increase on last year. The total number of passengers carried increased by 33% in June 2013 compared to June 2012 and in one day the airline recorded the highest number of passengers ever carried at just over 59,000. On average, the number of passengers carried daily has increased by 10,000 to approximately 47,000 in just 12 months.

Even with the addition of six new Airbus A380s to provide 38% more seat capacity than its predecessor the Boeing B747, the increase in passenger traffic has still been greater than capacity growth. Malaysia Airlines are flying 17% more flights per day for approximately the same number of aircraft and staff as last year, which bodes well for ongoing development.
