Sky’s the limit for new Emirates Skywards and MBNA UK card collaboration

Emirates’ award-winning frequent flyer programme, Emirates Skywards, and MBNA have signed a new UK credit card collaboration; and announce the launch of two new credit card accounts for current and new Emirates Skywards members and UK consumers.

The ‘Emirates Skywards Credit Card Account’ and ‘Emirates Skywards Elite Credit Card Account’ allow customers the choice between a standard no annual fee card and an elite version with fee.

Both accounts come with two credit cards, one American Express® card and one Visa card, and enable eligible new customers to boost the earning power of their spending by building Skywards Miles. The accounts also come with a higher earn rate on purchases from Emirates, 10 percent off holidays booked through Emirates Tours as well as bonus miles for the first purchase made during the first 90 days of opening the account. Holders of the Elite card are entitled to additional benefits – ranging from a complementary companion reward ticket, to discounts on flights, miles purchases, Emirates Business Class check in at UK airports when flying in Economy Class and more (conditions apply).

MBNA’s Business Development and Marketing executive, Michael Donald, and Emirates Skywards Senior Vice President, Brian LaBelle, took to Emirates Air Line in London, the UK’s first urban cable car, to launch the new collaboration.

“As the recognised leader in card affinity partnerships, MBNA was the obvious partner of choice for Emirates Skywards to bring new cobrand credit cards to the UK market,” said Brian LaBelle. “It is a logical step for Emirates Skywards to launch these two new products in the UK, home to our largest membership base globally. We want to ensure both current and future Emirates Skywards members have the best opportunity possible to maximise the earning potential of their spending by building Skywards Miles and redeeming these for a range of exclusive rewards and benefits that come with both accounts.”

Michael Donald added: “MBNA is proud to be working alongside Emirates Skywards, the frequent flyer programme of one of the world’s fastest growing international airlines. We share their ambition to provide the UK Emirates Skywards membership base with compelling credit card products and look forward to our new partnership going from strength to strength.”
