PCT lands easyJet Euro Currency Card deal

Payment Card Technologies (PCT) a leading provider of white labelled prepaid card solutions, has delivered easyJet’s first prepaid currency card – The Euro Currency Card. The card, which is free to purchase when loading over £100, will be offered to all easyJet customers from 23rd May 2013 and is being promoted as a convenient, cost-effective, secure and simple alternative to cash, credit and debit cards and Travellers Cheques for payments in Europe.

Ian Clowes, CEO of PCT said: “This is a significant contract for PCT and demonstrates our leadership position within the branded prepaid card arena. The whole process from concept to delivery, including the creation of a dedicated website, has been under 3 months – quite exceptional within the prepaid card arena and we expect to process significant numbers of Euro Currency Cards ahead of the peak summer period. The card complements the easyJet brand proposition perfectly in terms of its value, simplicity and no hassle nature and we are delighted to have been selected to create and deliver this powerful offering to easyJet customers.”

Issued by Raphaels Bank, the Euro Currency Card is a secure electronic prepaid card, chip and PIN enabled and available for use wherever you find the Visa brand mark. Travellers also have 24 hour access to cash via ATMs which display the Visa brand mark. With market competitive rates fixed at the time the traveller transfers money to it, the card offers budgeting certainty.

easyJet customers ordering over £100 worth of Euros will get the card for free and there are no transaction fees and no ATM fees for withdrawing cash.*

Natasha Toothill, Head of Retailer Engagement and Prepaid Sales at Visa commented: “We are delighted to be partnering PCT and easyJet on the successful launch of the first easyJet Visa Currency Card. Leading programme manager, PCT, has delivered this very complex project within an unprecedented timeframe. It has been a fantastic project to work on, and we believe that the combination of easyJet’s strong travel brand, coupled with PCT’s and Visa’s vast experience in this field, will create a powerful consumer offering in this ever growing market.”

Martin Smith, Partnership Marketing within easyJet adds: “We wanted a prepaid currency card that would deliver unbeatable value, help customers with budgeting, be easy to use and secure. PCT was selected on the basis of their proven experience in the prepaid card field, strong supplier relationships and commitment to deliver the product within the very tight timeframe we required. The team has worked tirelessly throughout the project to not only scope out and design the card, but create the literature, marketing material and website, in addition to supporting the launch and managing the card on an on-going basis.

“We have been impressed with PCT’s ‘can do’ attitude and professionalism throughout the process. We believe the Euro Currency Card is one of the strongest prepaid currency cards on the market today and we’re proud to offer this exclusively to easyJet customers. ”
