Tourist arrivals to Malaysia continue to increase

The Tourism Minister, Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen announced that Malaysia welcomed 11,632,483 tourist arrivals for the first six months of 2012, registering a growth of 2.4% compared to 11,362,862 arrivals for the same period last year.
Correspondingly, total tourist receipts from January to June 2012 rose by 4.0%, generating RM26.8 billion to the country’s revenue compared to RM25.7 billion in 2011.

Chairman Antunes advances the PATA ‘Next Gen’ agenda in India

Mr. João Manuel Costa Antunes, in his capacity as PATA Chairman, held dialogue with India’s tourism industry leaders in New Delhi, August 28. It was the Chairman’s first official PATA visit since becoming chairman in April. Chairman Antunes, also the Director of the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), visited the Cabinet Minister of Tourism of India, Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, and the Secretary of Ministry of Tourism, Sh. Rajen Habib Khwaja, to express gratitude for the strong support rendered by the Ministry of Tourism, and to explore opportunities for closer cooperation in line with “PATA Next Gen” principles.

DMC Wedgewood Britain receives a Royal Appointment from "The Duchess of Cambridge"

In July Merlin Events teamed up with Sternberg Clarke to launch ‘The Kate Factor’, the search for the nation’s undiscovered Duchess of Cambridge lookalike. Several entries were sent to Merlin’s Facebook page, with the winner selected in August. Nicola Maher who bears a startling resemblance to the Duchess of Cambridge was selected as the winner of ‘The Kate Factor’ and received her first photo opportunity at a Pimm’s with Kate drinks reception (organised by Merlin Events) at the offices of DMC Wedgewood Britain.
