Event professionals dealing with conference bookings and contracts, or struggling with managing challenging employees, could benefit from the Meetings Industry Association’s (mia) latest expert-led workshops.On Friday 14 October, the mia, which is one of the fastest growing associations in the conference, meetings and events sector, will be hosting a Venue Contracts Workshop at Central Hall Westminster that will see contracts specialist Nick Milne delivering a full-day workshop covering best practice in event contracting.
Nick, who also delivers workshops for HBAA and Cat Publications, will be discussing what constitutes a contact and why they are required, the difference between terms and conditions and contracts, the essential details, liabilities, payment terms, obligations and rights, remedies, cancellation charges and service level agreements.
The following Friday (21 October), the mia will be offering help and advice at Leicester Racecourse for anyone in the industry needing support managing tricky employees. Delivered by Philip Cripps, chief executive of Thameside International, one of the UK’s most highly-respected management consultancies, the session will examine the ways the behaviour of a difficult employee influences your emotions and actions.
The half-day session will also look at the 12 most common causes of challenging behaviour as well as 20 practical and proven ways to curtail testing behaviour. Delegates will receive a detailed set of notes on how to apply the principles, approaches and techniques demonstrated during the presentation.
