Slovenian Convention Bureau gives control of its Social Media channels to a Millennial Meeting Planner

Following the lead of other destination marketing organisations in the leisure market, the Slovenian Convention Bureau becomes the first DMO in the meetings sector to give control of its social media channels to a third party. During its annual familiarization trip Aoife McCrum, a 25 year old meeting professional from Dublin, will post, tweet, blog and vlog across all of the Bureau’s social channels, bringing the perspective of a millennial to the trip.

“We’ve seen how successful user generated content can be from what other DMOs have done in the consumer market. However, no Bureau that we’re aware of has done this in the meetings industry. We think it’ll enhance the destination experience for all participants during the fam trip by showcasing the power of social media while, at the same time, extending the reach of the experience itself to our followers all over the world”, said Miha Kovačič, Executive Director at the Slovenian Convention Bureau.  

“In 2016 Slovenia is celebrating 25 years of sovereign nationhood and we’ve been recognizing this at the Bureau with our #ifeel25 theme. We’ve had the #ifeel25 interactive digital game at IMEX Frankfurt and The Meetings Show and we’ll do it again at IBTM World in Barcelona in November. Now we’re doing #ifeel25 live with a 25 year old events professional for whom social media is a natural extension of her personality. It’s a perfect match!” said Jasna Jašič, Project Manager at the Slovenian Convention Bureau.  

“I have visited Slovenia in the past and enjoyed a mega week of high adventure on the Soča River, kayaking and white water rafting. My biggest surprise then was the quality of the food and wine – they’re truly extraordinary.
