Diversity Travel launches online advisory series at Bond

Diversity Travel has launched a new YouTube video series today which provides travel managers in the charity sector with advice on how to make the most effective decisions when booking travel and accommodation in the UK and overseas.  
Diversity Travel works with over 2,000 clients in the charity and academic sector, including ActionAid, the Salvation Army, Marie Stopes International and Save the Children.


The new YouTube video series is called ‘Diverseries’. The series sees members of Diversity Travel’s senior team demonstrate their knowledge and insights from working with clients. In the videos they provide advice on travel to remote locations, guidance on how to react to world events and ways to identify hidden travel costs.  

Sean de Lacey, head of sales at Diversity Travel, has spent 10 years working in the business travel sector and is featured in the first video of the series. Sean said: “Our objective with the first video is to make sure charity workers really understand what it is we, and other travel management companies, do and how they can make their lives easier.  

“With so many price comparison websites it is easy to understand why many go online to try to get the best deal, but travel – in particular international travel – in this sector isn’t always that simple, with clients demanding flights to remote places at the drop of a hat.  

“Not only do travel management companies have access to all price comparison sites, but more importantly, they can access special discounts for charity workers which can reduce spend further by up to 25 per cent. Most charities are eligible for these discounts and by producing these videos, we hope to encourage more of them to take advantage.”  

Sean leads a team at Diversity Travel that helps clients in the international development sector realise cost saving opportunities and identify areas of their travel policy where there is potential for improved efficiencies. He will be taking part in a panel discussion at the Bond Annual Conference 2016 which will look at managing travel in an overseas development environment to reduce organisational cost and increase traveller safety.  

Sean continued: “If an employee is researching and booking travel independently they could spend on average over two and a half hours, dealing with multiple airlines, completing numerous online searches on prices, reviews and availability, and finally submitting an expense claim to the finance department. We refer to this as the hidden cost of travel as it can cost charity organisations up to £1,000 each time.  

“I’ll be sharing advice at Bond about how to avoid these hidden costs which can have a significant impact on third sector budgets.”  

Bond is the UK membership body for organisations working in international development or supporting those that do through funding, research, training and other services. Its Annual Conference 2016 takes place at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster on Monday 29 February and Tuesday 1 March.  

Diversity Travel will be at stand 24 on both days.
