The 12 month programme, created by managing director of Zibrant, Fay Sharpe, works alongside a hand-picked portfolio of influential key players, willing to share their insight and experience with the stars of the future. It offers mentees the opportunity to develop and gain visibility, exposure and confidence – and encourages women in the events and hospitality industry.
Sharpe received 139 applications in 2015 from women across the sector and mentors included Louise Bang from Ritz Carlton, Joanna Lawlor from AstraZeneca, Juliet Price from HBAA and Jo Austin from Lime Venue Portfolio.
Commenting on the mentor call to action, founder Fay Sharpe said: “Becoming a mentor on the Fast Forward 15 programme has not only had a huge influence on our mentees but has also enhanced and developed the coaching skills of the volunteer mentors through the extensive support and formal programme we have put them through.
“We have seen increased confidence, self-belief and personal growth across the board in this programme, the mentees development has already been remarkable and is a testament to our prestigious group of mentors. It is great that senior industry figures come forward and dedicate their time to invest into the future of the industry. The influence on both mentors and mentees has been extremely positive and I would encourage anyone at the top of their game to get involved.
“The subject of gender inequality is something that remains very current and I am immensely proud of this initiative which encompasses the wider ambition to change the issues surrounding the culture and perceptions within the industry. I can’t wait to get started all over again on a new year and with new participants.”
