A recent event at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan, New York City saw the experience and knowledge of the Right Events team put to the test.
With more than 450 delegates and 30 exhibitors in attendance, the 4th Annual NY Passive House Conference & Expo was held to discuss and demonstrate the benefits of Passive House, a building standard which seeks to drastically reduce the energy consumption of a building.
With a commitment to achieving 80% carbon reduction by 2050, New York City has a huge task on its hands. The event brief handed to Right Events was to bring together the city's construction professionals and policy makers for a one day in-depth discussion and look at Passive House implementation.
Right Events managed the event website, a unique feature they offer to all customers where a bespoke website and URL are created specifically for the event that delegates can use to register, find itineray and agenda details, as well as helpful external links to hotel and travel and transport providers. The Right Events team also managed the registration and payment collection process, managed sponsors and exhibitors and provided onsite support on the day.
To put this into context the day's packed agenda included:
• a welcome from the Passive House President
• a short awards presentation
• a keynote speech
• two breakout sessions
• a presentation unveiling the World's tallest Passive House building on Roosevelt Island
• structured discussion sessions about retrofitting
• a roundtable discussion with four speaker/examples
• a closing panel discussion and Q&A session
• post event networking and expo of industry leading product and service providers, giving delegates practical components and contacts to help acheive their Passive House goals.
Of the four annual Conference & Expos, three of which Right Events have managed, New York Passive House President Ken Levenson said, "We hired Right Events to deliver our annual New York Passive House Symposium in 2013. From managing sponsorship and marketing through to a seamless registration process; Right Events were integral to the event's great success as well as playing a key role in increasing attendee figures, sponsorship revenue and strategy for future events. NYPH looks forward to continuing working with Right Events."
Right Events also manage the registrations and payments for around 40 Passive House training events per year, as well as the recent US to Brussels excursion where key figures in building design in the US, including members of the Mayor's office, were invited to view projects in Brussels (the first city in the world to make Passive House compulsory standard for new builds).
Right Events is putting itself, and the brands and events it works with, on the world stage by going beyond the realms of the traditional events management model. Company MD Barry McTierney explains, "For a number of clients, we have designed logos, branding guidelines and newsletters to keep their audience engaged with the brand well beyond an event.
"Being a Manchester based company doesn't stop us competitng and delivering events across the globe," continues Barry. "It takes experience, the right contacts and an understanding of international customs, as well as the laws and regulations of the country you're working in. We don't limit ourselves, although language barriers and logisitical challenges are common, but it's all part of the learning curve."
