Carrier reports record-breaking sales to Caribbean

Award-winning luxury tour operator Carrier achieved its highest ever sales to the Caribbean last month, selling luxury holidays amounting to over £2 million. Carrier bookings to the region continue to rise steadily, with a 30% increase for 2015 departures and a 75% increase for 2016 compared to previous years. The main growth has come via travel agents, whose sales represent over 70% of revenue to the region.

Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia performed particularly well for Carrier, with sales doubling for key hotels including Colony Club in Barbados, Carlisle Bay in Antigua and The BodyHoliday in St. Lucia. Sandy Lane in Barbados, Jumby Bay in Antigua and Spice Island in Grenada have also seen impressive growth of around 50% year-on-year.  

Commenting on the recent success, Steve Kimber, Managing Director at Carrier, said: “We have a fantastic team here at Carrier and I’m delighted to see our hard work paying off. The Caribbean Reservations Team spent over four months in 2014 visiting different islands, developing their already excellent product knowledge, and I believe this really shows in terms of service and sales. They continue to offer intricate understanding and expertise on a daily basis.”  

Suzanne Walford, Caribbean Product Manager at Carrier, also added: “There are many reasons for this region to be so popular at the moment. Our hotels provide consistently high standards, and a number of luxury hotels have invested further to make sure their product remains the best, such as Malliouhana in Anguilla and Cheval Blanc Isle De France, St Barths. The imminent arrival of new hotels such as Rosewood at Baha Mar in The Bahamas will also heighten interest.  

Many islands are now accessible by a single flight, and the second weekly British Airways flight to Providenciales, Turks & Caicos via Antigua from October will naturally boost demand. We have also recently seen a significant number of stays of over two weeks; people are investing again in a serious break from routine. Our strong bookings for 2016 are testament to guests booking early for key dates; they know if they don’t book now they simply won’t get in.”
