Launched in 2012, the placement scheme provides a platform for the successful applicants to gain vocational insight and understanding to the meetings and events sector through a year-long work placement
The assessment centre, which will take place on 1 May at the company’s UK headquarters in Ashby de la Zouch, has already received numerous applicants from a variety of academic institutions offering event management degrees in both the UK and overseas. The current scheme has five students already placed in the UK office who will be returning to university in the coming months to complete their degree.
Katie Mason (current placement student from Sheffield Hallam University) said: “My placement year with Ashfield Meetings & Events has been an exciting and invaluable opportunity to develop personally and professionally. I have come away from my placement year more focused on my final year with the experience to back up my academic work.”
Helen Capelin (Head Of Operational Excellence, and responsible for implementing and managing the undergraduate programme) said: “As we approach the end of our third successful year of running the placement scheme it has continued to grow and is now a well-established training program within the company. The students are benefitting from on the job training, allowing them to transfer theory from the classroom. All of our placement students will combine on-site and office-based work in addition to being enrolled in our comprehensive in-house training programme. Education, training and continued professional development is very important to our organisation.”
Ashfield Meetings & Events have continued to invest in the training department and have recently appointed Anna Mollart-Solity as Training & Development Facilitator. She will join Sarah Longland (Training & Development Manager) to ensure a continued focus on increasing skills, maintaining quality and showcasing best practice.
