The charity, which provides palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and children, receiving very little Government or NHS funding relies almost wholly on the generosity of their supporters. Directors Chris Peacock and Andrew Deakin were delighted to present the Children's Hospice with a cheque today for the total funds raised by Conference Care. They also had the chance to view the facilities and meet some of the children, families and staff.
Zoe's Place was chosen by the Venue Finding agency as their nominated charity in 2013, with Peacock and Deakin pledging to double whatever their team raised. Since then it's been all hands on deck to raise as much as possible through a number of fundraising activities including: a moonlight walk through Birmingham, two Coventry half marathons, as well as donations via their client loyalty scheme.
‘Muna Chauhan, Corporate Manager, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity, said 'Our Open Doors Appeal was launched with the aim of raising £1.3m per year, so that the Hospice can open our doors to families on a full time basis. We’re currently open four to five days a week, and every other weekend, so Conference Care's continued support is invaluable in making our dreams a reality.'
Peacock said 'visiting the Hospice today really brought home how important our fundraising efforts are - I am very proud of our team for supporting such a worthy cause and really making a difference.'
