DCMS commends events industry survey response

The Department of Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) passed on its thanks to the UK events industry this week, following wide spread input into its Events Industry Survey, run at the end of last year.
The Survey was pulled together as part of efforts from a DCMS taskforce to look at ways government can add value to the events industry in Britain.

Writing on behalf of DCMS to the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP), who coordinated the distribution of the survey, John-Paul Corcoran, said: “… I would like to thank you for your participation in the Events Industry survey. I can confirm that having received the data, the Department is in the process of collating the information that you have so generously provided.”

He added, “We are now finalising a report that will set out recommendations to fulfill the Secretary of State's objective to highlight the UK as a key destination for business conferences and events. We very much look forward to sharing the recommendations with you.”

The BVEP expects to hear recommendations from DCMS with within the next month, and has been delighted with the engagement from the industry, “It’s a positive sign that DCMS is getting the right level of engagement from the industry. Ensuring that they are speaking to the right people and helping them take an informed, consultative approach to working with the industry have been critical,” commented Simon Hughes, Vice Chair of the BVEP.

“All of our partners are obviously looking forward to hearing the results of the work undertaken by the DCMS and seeing what tangible proposals government has developed to provide practical support to the industry that will enable us to build on the economic value  we create for the country,” concluded Hughes.
