Hire Space surpass £1million with latest fundraising round

Website raises £350,000 for continued UK growth

Venue-booking website, Hire Space has raised over a million pounds in the last year to finance a full UK expansion.
After reaching the £1million mark last year, investors including Karen Hanton MBE, founder of TopTable and strategic advisor to the business, have raised a further £350,000. This latest fundraising round will allow the company to launch in cities across the whole of the UK with a view to targeting Europe in the coming year.

Launched in April 2013 with £150,000 of start-up finance, Hire Space began as an initiative to help schools and community centres rent their unused space and drive alternative revenue streams. The website has grown to be the UK’s leading specialist online venue-booking website, expanding to Manchester in 2014 and most recently Liverpool and Birmingham.

Since the last fundraising round, Hire Space has increased its offering, branching out into the conference and corporate event market, which now accounts for 50% of enquires, a figure that has tripled in the last 12 months. The site has also received a quarter of a million visitors in 2015 so far.

Edward Poland, co-founder of Hire Space commented, “The business has gone in directions we didn’t expect but we’ve enjoyed exploring these opportunities and evolving with them. We have ambitious plans for Hire Space and this latest round of fundraising will help us diversify our offering to our users and build quickly towards full UK coverage.”

The company boasts a portfolio of over 2500 venues in the UK, with 40 new listings added each week. Experts in unusual, quirky venues and always the first to hear about new venue openings, Hire Space provides users with thousands of spaces for meetings, events, conferences and private parties.
