ATPI celebrates success of Travel Trainee Programme in East Anglia

Leading business travel and events management company, the ATPI Group has presented certificates of completion to eight students at ATPI’s Lowestoft office. The company employs over 180 staff in the Lowestoft area and the students have successfully completed the company’s annual graduate trainee programme as part of its ongoing partnership with two East Anglian colleges.

Each student has had the opportunity to develop their business travel consultancy skills at the ATPI Trainee Academy on dedicated work placements, following their graduation from college. The most successful have then been fast-tracked and offered a future role at the company to ensure they continue to build on their knowledge and skill set whilst in full time employment, proof of ATPI’s long term commitment to nurturing future talent within the travel industry.

The group has worked with Lowestoft College (LC) in Suffolk and City College Norwich (CCN) in Norfolk since May to help develop the curriculum of the respective colleges' Travel & Tourism Level 3 Diplomas. The programme has been designed to provide students with the relevant training to ensure they will have long term career with in the travel industry.

Simon Bean, general manager of the UK, ATPI Group, recently presented certificates to trainees who have successfully completed the ATPI Academy programme.

He comments: “It is hugely encouraging to see the progress of the next generation of travel management professionals take such formative steps on their career path. The travel industry is evolving at a rapid pace with the development of new technologies and we look forward to seeing these graduates apply their knowledge and skills to their future careers. The ATPI Training Academy has enjoyed great success in East Anglia and we look forward to extending it to other colleges around the UK in the near future.”

Commenting on the development of the working relationship Mathew Scott, curriculum programme manager at City College Norwich adds, “We have been working with ATPI for a number of months now and have been thrilled with the benefits this has brought for our travel and tourism students.  Our staff team have worked with ATPI to ensure the curriculum matches the current skills expectations of the industry, while students have also benefitted from taking up work experience opportunities within the company.  All of this is enhancing our students’ skills and experience, ultimately improving their prospects of securing employment in the industry at the end of their course.”
