Aimed at the association’s agent and venue members, up to 200 members took part in the new initiative created by current, past and vice venues chairs Dawn Jaynes, Accor UK & Ireland, Michael Hodgkinson, Menzies Hotels and Hayley Stokes, Principal Hayley.
Each event, hosted by an HBAA agent and venue member, was unique in its style, set up, menu and ambience, and allowed diners to explore business opportunities and network in a relaxed and informal setting.
Dawn Jaynes, Director of Sales, Mercure & Mice UK and venue chair for the HBAA, commented: “As Venue Chair this year I wanted to provide a unique event where agents and venues could network in an informal way and to give all venues an equal chance to be able to network effectively.”
Michael Hodgkinson, Director of Key Accounts at Menzies Hotels & Hallmark Hotels, said: “The evening was a huge success, we wanted to provide independent hotels within the association valuable exposure with our agency community and the opportunity for them to meet and forge new relationships. Independent venues really do value the opportunities the HBAA provides in networking with agents, which is an important part of their membership.”
Hayley Stokes, Sales Director, City Hotel Division at Principal Hayley, added: “Due to the success of the events, one of my key objectives as the incoming Venue Chair of the HBAA is to ensure the Come Dine with Us events run again in 2015 as we really have witnessed an appetite for more networking opportunities – both by the agent and venue members.”
