drpgroup produce FSB 40th Anniversary Conference

The drpgroup produced and staged the Federation of Small Businesses 40th Anniversary Conference at Manchester Central. The event saw high profile speakers attend. The main objective of the event was to celebrate and reflect on the past 40years, whilst looking at the organisation’s present challenges and issues. It was an opportunity for the federation to regroup and look forward to the next 40 years and what the future holds.

The drpgroup has been working with the FSB for over 20 years, this year’s event had to be special to reflect the work of Britain’s leading business organisation. The event opened with a trade exhibition and seminar programme. In the evening the federation’s AGM was attended by over 600 delegates, representing 200,000 members from across the UK.

The conference opening on the Friday morning used projection mapping, graphics and video to take an emotional look back at the history of the federation, with former chairmen recounting their stories from the past. It was then down to business with an array of high profile speakers, from George Osborne to Ed Milliband, Gerald Ratner to Tanni Grey Thompson. The event was hosted by BBC’s Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty.

The event was live-streamed to 1000’s of members who couldn’t attend and with the help of a Twitter feed, people were able to interact and make comments. A conference app was also used to add to the audience experience.

The two day programme for over 1000 delegates also saw an active social programme of partner trips, with a ‘back to the 70’s’ disco and ruby gala dinner. To close the event, a tear-jerking video looked forward 40 years, using young children talking about their aspirations for the future. The stage set then opened up to reveal the adult versions of the children who shared their success stories.

Dave Stallon , National Secretary & Conference Chairman made the following comments about the event “drpgroup have wonderful ideas to make our events unique, and they work to ensure the project management is carried through from start to finish, whilst liaising with our committee at all times.” This working relationship between FSB and drpgroup hopes to continue for many more years.
