Events management firm caters for big business

A leading North East events company is celebrating catering for some of the region’s top businesses for the third consecutive year.
1879 Events Management, which offers a one-stop shop for event organisers across the North East, lent its expertise to the recent Teesside sub-regional heat of the North East Business Awards 2014.

The black tie event, held at Teesside University’s Olympia Building, was attended by more than 400 business leaders from across Middlesbrough, Stockton and the surrounding areas, who were competing for awards in 11 different categories.

1879 Events Management, a subsidiary of SAFC, provided a range of event management and catering services for the annual event, including dressing the function room, which is usually used as a gym, providing all cutlery, crockery and a fully stocked bar and preparing and serving a three course meal.

This was the third time the company had been hired to fulfil this role, following successful delivery of the same services in 2012 and 2013.

Lesley Hampson, Events Manager for Trinity Mirror, which organises the awards, said: “The North East Business Awards is a large and prestigious event, which seems to grow bigger every year.

“Hiring an experienced company like 1879 Events Management helped take a lot of pressure away from the organisational aspect of the proceedings and we really couldn’t fault the service at all.”

1879 Events Management, which was established in 2012, has already catered for more than a million people at a wide range of events, including leading LGBT festival Newcastle Pride.

Along with the catering operation at the Stadium of Light, the company also manages all catering and hospitality at the recently refurbished National Glass Centre, Sunderland and its newly developed Brasserie,

Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director at SAFC and 1879 Events Management, said: “The North East Business Awards is a relatively challenging event because it is held in a very basic space, which is unaccustomed to dealing with these sorts of functions on a daily basis.

“Thanks to the experiences already gathered in previous events we are able to transform the setting into one befitting of such a high-profile event and ensure its guests are well catered for with a variety of food, beverages and other essential items.

“It’s testament to the hardwork and dedication of the entire 1879 Events Management team that we have been able to deliver this successfully for the past three years and we will work to uphold these standards in the future.”
