Barry Melbourne Webb Retires after 21 Years as Unique Venues of London’s Finance Director

Barry Melbourne Webb will be stepping down from his position as finance director of Unique Venues of London (UVL) it was announced yesterday - handing over the reins to current board member and Director of Membership and Development at Middle Temple, Colin Davidson.

Melbourne Webb is the last remaining founding member of UVL which was launched in 1993 under the name of ‘The Independent Association of Function Venues’ when it comprised just 18 unique and specialist properties within the capital.

Since these humble beginnings, he has been instrumental in the success of the consortium which has continued to grow in stature and recognition, expanding its membership base to the 81 members it features today.

Moya Maxwell, Chairman of UVL commented; “Barry has been a real driving force behind the success and growth of Unique Venues of London and will be missed by his friends and colleagues within the organisation. We have been fortunate that Barry has given his time and expertise to the organisation for so long and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”

Barry Melbourne Webb added; “It has been a privilege and a pleasure working with such dynamic colleagues over the past twenty-one years and I wish Unique Venues of London and Colin Davidson much continued success in the years to come.”

The announcement was made at UVL’s most recent member update yesterday, where the board also outlined impressive plans for 2014 including a new website, a rebrand as well as several enhanced member benefits, all being implemented as the consortium marks its 21st anniversary.

The team will be discussing what this means for event organisers when it appears at International Confex on Wednesday – Thursday this week (stand D38).
