destinations UNLIMITED celebrates 25th anniversary

Nikki Mitchell, Managing Partner of destinations UNLIMITED
2014 marks a major milestone in representation company destinations UNLIMITED‘s history - their 25th anniversary serving the MICE market.
Established in 1989, destinations UNLIMITED was the first DMC representation company of its kind. And 25 years later, the company is still a leader in the business events and MICE sector.
The company represents a portfolio of more than 40 DMCs, including recently announced partnerships with Borealis (Belgium), Tour East (Far East) and 1001 Events (Dubai).

BI Worldwide is one of destination UNLIMITED’s oldest customers in the UK, having used the organisation from its inception. David Battley, Director of Events at BI Worldwide, comments: “The quality of their DMC partners has always been of the very highest standard and has given me the confidence that is needed when planning detailed event programmes. I have always respected Nikki and her team for their knowledge and guidance; they are always one of the first people that I turn to within the industry, who can always be trusted to provide accurate and constructive advice for any of their destinations. Congratulations on your first 25 years, long may you continue.”

To maintain high standards, its DMCs are required to meet a strict set of criteria such as being established as a DMC for at least five years, undergoing checks for financial stability and references from UK agencies they have worked with.

Motorola Solutions Limited, Senior Events Specialist, Sarah Wilkinson: “Working as an Event Manager covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa, I have used destinations UNLIMITED to source venues and ground agents for the last 8 years. The website has been an invaluable resource as each company has been carefully researched and assessed to be included. We need to ensure that companies we use can offer the best, most reliable and cost effective service for our events and that financial risk is limited and using Destinations Unlimited this has never been an issue. The DMC’s listed always provide a fast response to requests and have always made my life much easier. I would highly recommend their services to all Event Managers! They are also a lovely team!”

Nikki Mitchell, Managing Partner of destinations UNLIMITED comments; “A lot of changes have taken place over the last 25 years. But we are still providing clients of all sizes with a first class representation service.

“Our aim has always been to take the uncertainty out of both DMC and destination selection. This is achieved by working with reputable partners. Our DMCs act as an extension of an event planners team to ensure everything runs seamlessly.  The majority of DMCs we represent have been with us for more than 15 years. Each has been recommended by fellow professionals and have exemplary records in all aspects of destination management, from the initial creative input to the smooth running of the services that they provide. Above all else, these partnerships provide clients with peace of mind that they are dealing with a highly reputable company.”

To mark its 25th anniversary, destinations UNLIMITED is hosting an exclusive two day event at the Crowne Plaza, Heythrop Park in July 2014. Attendees will be taken around the world through speed networking sessions with each of its DMCs before joining them for a celebratory evening event.

Nikki continues; “The aim of the anniversary event is to provide event planners with valuable knowledge of 25 destinations/DMCs and what they have to offer. It’s the perfect way for event planners to find out how their conference, event or incentive trip could work in different global locations without leaving the country and of course celebrate what promises to be an extremely special occasion for all those involved.” Further details will be announced shortly.
