‘Trust, respect and value’ of staff key to retaining awardEuropcar, the leader in car hire services in Europe, is celebrating retaining its Gold level accreditation from Investors in People, which recognises commitment to developing and empowering employees within an organisation. Originally given Gold level in 2010, the status has been awarded for a further 3 years following an extensive review of the business, which found Europcar continued to excel in all areas of employee development, despite a number of significant changes within the business.
Investors in People provides a highly-recognised industry standard for management excellence, helping companies realise the potential of their employees, improve standards and gain accreditation. Combining business insight with an Accreditation Framework allows IIP to work with a business to increase employee engagement and encourage strong leadership. The continuation of Europcar’s initial award demonstrates Europcar’s ability to nurture and motivate its employees to create a truly rewarding workplace.
Ken McCall, Managing Director of Europcar UK Group, comments, “We are thrilled to have retained the Gold status from Investors in People, after a comprehensive review. As a business we know we have dynamic leadership at all levels, which follows through with our employees working extremely hard and going the extra mile on a daily basis – however accreditation such as this is crucial in having that recognised outside our organisation.”
Investors in People noted that mangers at all levels within Europcar ‘truly trust, respect and value their people’ and ‘recognise that they are their greatest asset’. It was also noted that pioneering initiatives such as Europcar’s Promoter Score programme were paramount in engaging with and motivating employees to achieve their KPIs.
The review was carried out in November 2013, and acknowledged that since the previous review there had been a number of significant changes at Europcar, including the appointment of a new Managing Director and Operations Director. In total 10% of Europcar’s employees were interviewed, following which Europcar achieved a total of 184 evidence requirements set by Investors in People.

Being awarded the Gold level status again by Investors in People allows us to showcase this philosophy and reinforces Europcar as an organisation that truly values and invests in its people.”
