Industry urged to come together for charity event

HelmsBriscoe, the global meeting procurement agency is once again hosting its charity fundraiser event in aid of young adults with autism, at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on Monday 27 January.
Through its unique HB Cares programme, the event will be the second hosted by HelmsBriscoe in support of young adults with autism in the meetings and events industry. Guests are invited to give up just two hours of their time at the networking event and have the amazing opportunity to meet with a number of their hotel partners including Marriott, Hilton, Rezidor, Accor, IHG, Guoman, DeVere Venues, DeVere Hotels and many others. All funds raised will support its work experience programme for young adults with autism looking to get into full-time employment within the industry.


“Last year more than £15,000 was raised to provide job placements in the meetings industry for six people and we’re hopeful of bigger results in 2014. Only 15 % of young adults with autism are currently employed in the UK, but giving us just two hours of your time we can make a difference and together give back to those in the industry who really need it,” said organiser Carole McKellar, Executive Director, Europe at HelmsBriscoe.  

The work experience includes a six week training programme called ‘Preparation for Employment’, one to one guidance sessions and group workshops. The chosen participants will also take part in an eight week unpaid work placement with support from The National Autistic Society.

Working with the industry charity Meetings Industry Meeting Needs and the MPI Foundation, the event takes place from 6-8pm and will deliver interactive activities, bowl food and refreshments.
