Britain for Events strengthens support programme

The Britain for Events campaign has created two new member groups as part of a programme to develop the campaign as it builds up to the launch of the APPGI report, and forward into 2014.
The two support groups, the Advisory Council and Steering Group will strengthen the effectiveness of the campaign, the most inclusive for the UK events industry. Meeting in London today (3rd December), members will meet twice a year, with the Advisory Council coming together to consider the campaign’s objectives and determine priorities for the annual programme. The Steering Group has been tasked to guide the campaign’s programme and ensure its effective implementation.

Michael Hirst, who will be chairing the inaugural meetings, commented; “This is a crucial time in determining favourable policies towards the industry. Events offer a superior way of communicating important messages and deliver unrivalled experiences as well as being the most effective way of promoting goods and services the UK has to offer. Establishing a Steering Group and Advisory Council is another step towards further enhancing the campaigns profile.”

This comes ahead of the first ever All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Inquiry into the international competitiveness of the UK events industry, for which Britain for Events acted as secretariat. Due to report its findings on Monday 16th December in London, the event will be the first unveiling of its recommendations to government, following the APPG Inquiry in the summer.
