Raising AIM awareness on the agenda as CYE Group’s MD joins MIA Council

Founder and managing director of CYE Group Ben Gray has joined the meetings industry association’s (mia) council, with the pronouncement that he is keen to help support the adoption of AIM (Accredited in Meetings) among venues and raise awareness of the accreditation among buyers.  The mia council is a dedicated group of industry professionals, selected to give a true representation of the sector, that work together to steer the association to the benefit of the membership

CYE Group is an innovative collection of four leading venue and event web portals. On taking his place on the mia council, Gray commented, “We’ve [CYE Group] been members of the mia for a while now and have been impressed by the association’s broad reaching approach to driving the industry forward while providing genuinely advantageous member benefits. I’m especially interested in the initiatives the mia has to increase standards in the industry and, like my colleagues on the council, see AIM as the principal means to achieving this objective. already includes AIM accreditation as a criteria when people search for venues on the site and we are encouraging the venues we work with to consider achieving the accreditation and joining mia to reap the benefits.”

With the mia pushing forward an ambitious suite of strategies and ideas to help members create sustainable business models, the association’s chief executive, Jane Longhurst, has high expectations for Gray as a council member, “The mia represents the entire meetings industry in the UK, including venues, suppliers and destinations. As one of our supplier members Ben is very well placed to help us evolve our membership offer to this very important group whilst simultaneously advising us on the best strategies to help raise awareness of AIM through the venue and event portals.”

Ben Gray founded CYE Group, in 2000 and today the company supports four venue and event finding portals, which receive over 2.6 million unique visitors per year, list over 15,000 qualified venues, 2,500 activity providers and 6,000 events.
