Further details of GTMC Autumn Conference released

Graham Evans MP speaking in support of HS2 and Generation Y expert Simon Walker

The GTMC, the UK’s most influential travel management business community, has released further details of its Autumn Conference, which will be held on 28 October 2013 at the Park Lane Hotel, Piccadilly, London W1.

The morning agenda will focus on the importance of business travel to the British economy and there will be speakers and presentations from airline, car hire, rail and the hotel sectors, addressing issues including the future of mobility, the HS2 debate and the importance of hospitality to the UK economy.

Among the speakers will be Graham Evans MP, vice chair of the High Speed Rail APPG who incurred the wrath of the Stop HS2 campaigners when he claimed that nine local councils might have acted illegally by earmarking £1,175,000 to spend in the battle against HS2.

Evans, the MP for Weaver Vale in Cheshire, is quoted as saying in reference to the Stop HS2 campaign: “High-speed rail is the biggest step forward any Government has taken to tackle the problem of the North-South divide. My constituents need jobs and growth above all else. They are deeply disturbed that southern councils are paying to keep the North poorer.”

Paul Wardlow                                  Director of Sales, Starwood Hotels & Resorts
