1879 Events Management, a subsidiary of Sunderland AFC, was launched in summer 2012 to offer a one-stop solution for event organisers across the North East
In just 12 months it has provided catering and event management services for a diverse range of events and functions around the region, including business awards dinners, concerts and private parties.
This has included the North East’s largest LGBT festival, Newcastle Pride, the North East Business Teesside Awards at Teesside University and the 2012 Sunderland Retail Awards in the city’s Bridges Shopping Centre.
The company, which also manages events at the Stadium of Light, was recently awarded its first local authority contract, to act as a ticketing agent and catering supplier for the Sound Waves 2013 concert organised by South Tyneside Council.
It has also been appointed to provide bespoke catering for all corporate and private events at the re-launched National Glass Centre, Sunderland, as well as to run the day to day operation of the venue’s highly acclaimed Brasserie.
Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director at Sunderland AFC, said: “1879 Events Management has been able to utilise SAFC’s experience of hosting events at the Stadium of Light to offer a comprehensive events management service for the whole of the North East and beyond.
“In the past 12 months the firm has proven it can cater for a wide range of events, from fine-dining to festivals, as well as major catering contracts and we look forward to continuing this expansion in the coming months and years.”
