Football event raises over £5,200 for Cancer Research UKOn Sunday 11 August, Capita Travel and Events brought together 25 teams from across Capita plc, to enter a charity football match at Wokefield Park, Reading in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Teams from around the country competed to raise over £5,200 for Cancer Research UK, some travelling from Dublin to take part.
Jonathan Himple, client co-ordinator from Capita Travel and Events, who organised the event on behalf of Capita plc said, “I’m delighted that so many teams from across the business took part in the event. It was a really competitive day but with plenty of fun thrown in. We’ve also had people in Capita Travel and Events offices topping up the total raised with sponsored penalty shoot-outs and alternative keepy-uppies which involved keeping a football in the air using any body part other than arms and hands. Other games and activities for children on the day meant that there was something for the whole family to do while raising money for Cancer Research UK.”
Ebbie Elson, Capita’s Cancer Research UK account manager who attended the day said, “The Football Tournament was a fantastic fundraiser which brought Capita employees together from far and wide for a bit of friendly competition. At Cancer Research UK, we are hugely grateful for all the efforts of the organisers, players, and those who helped on the day. Through our partnership, we are raising £200,000 to help beat cancer sooner, and events like this bring us ever closer to our goal. Well done and thank you to everyone!”
