Autograph Events delivers Halfords ‘Managers Conference’ in 10 weeksOn 28th March 2012, Halfords held a conference for its staff at Warwick University at the RICOH Arena. It was the first time that the company had communicated to all its employees at once.
The 2 day conference event with gala dinner was planned with one simple objective; to inform and inspire all staff with Halfords’ key strategic plans and sales growth opportunities. Halfords management motivated their staff in an open and inclusive environment.
Group networking activities around the campus venue allowed them to engage with each other professionally and socially.
The conference opened with a warm welcome from the management team, followed by engaging guest speaker, former England rugby captain, Lawrence Dallaglio. The after dinner entertainment was provided by comical entertainer Lenny Henry. Henry reinforced the light hearted and informal approach that Halfords had briefed Autograph Events to instil into the event.
The success of the event was prescribed by a close attention to detail from planning to production. Autograph Events discussed the conference brief with Halfords, understood their key objectives and helped shape an event that would motivate and meet the needs of their staff, in which the feedback results spoke for themselves. With 10 weeks from the first briefing to delivery the team had to work fast and hard.
Kirsty Floyd, Event Manager for Autograph Events, was at the forefront of Halfords conference plans and remained focused on the smooth running of the whole event. Floyd was responsible for all aspects of the event and delegate management on the day and the run up to the event. “We built and managed a delegate registration web platform that helped us communicate directly with all delegates and cater for their needs individually but efficiently” said Floyd. Using the bespoke website tool as a foundation to the event plan was fundamental in managing the accuracy of activities and delegate movements over the 2 days.
Halfords proved that investing time and effort into internal communications and networking amongst internal teams can drive commitment and engagement. “Yet again, Kirsty and the Autograph team did a great job throughout the event for us” said Phil, Head of Learning and Development for Halfords, “they were thorough, worked really hard and had a smile on their faces throughout.”
