Nina Meyer re-elected as ASTA president and chair

At its recent meeting at the Travel Retailing & Destination Expo in Los Angeles, ASTA's Board of Directors re-elected Nina Meyer, CTC, MCC, DS as ASTA president and chair. Meyer will serve on the Board’s Executive Committee with John Lovell, CTC, who was re-elected to the position of vice president and secretary. Roger Block was elected to serve as ASTA’s treasurer. Also serving on the Executive Committee will be Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) Chair Lee Thomas, CTC, who will serve as CAC-member director

Haydon brings guiding light to ETOA 

The European Tour Operators Association (ETOA) has announced the appointment of Linda Haydon as Manager responsible for Group Tourism.
Linda Haydon has worked in the travel business, specialising in coach touring, for more than forty years with a broad span of experience both ‘on the road’ and in senior management roles with major tour operators. After graduating from Cambridge, her career has encompassed European Tour Directing, Blue Badge London Guiding, Incentive Business and Conference Organisation. Most recently, she spent eight years as Director of Operations for Insight Vacations and five years as Director of Product Development for Trafalgar Tours.

i2i Events Group appoints new Business Head in Germany

i2i Events Group has announced the appointment of Gregor Bischkopf as its new Business Head in Germany.
Bischkopf will be responsible for building a sizeable team to drive sales and visitor growth from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to i2i Events’ entire event portfolio, as well as strengthening relationships with partners and clients and identifying future development opportunities.

Recruitment and relocation for Grass Roots DMS

Mel Burns
Following a number of substantial new business wins, Grass Roots Delegate Management Services (DMS) has been taking on more staff.  
The new arrivals include Mel Burns, Business Development Associate, who joins from meetings technology provider IML and Nicola Cunningham, Hotel Operations Manager, who joins from Banks Sadler. Polina Perry and Helen Shapter who both were formally at Zibrant, and Alejandro Mongelos from the Visa Olympics team have joined in project management roles, while a number of Developer roles are also currently being recruited for.

Karen Merrick appointed General Manager for Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives

Thirayuth Chirathivat, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Centara Hotels & Resorts, has announced the appointment of Karen Merrick as the first foreigner lady General Manager of Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives.
Ms.Merrick is a British national, hailing from Scotland who has almost 25 years' experience in Hospitality throughout the UK with the last 7 working overseas in Resort & Boutique operations within Maldives, Indonesia and Malaysia.
