AECC announces two catering appointments

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) have appointed two new Trainee Assistant Catering Operations Managers: Ryan Benson and Christopher Granges.  Both of whom come to their new roles with a high level of AECC experience having been Team Leaders in the Catering Team at the Centre.

Under the direction of Catering General Manager, David McDonald, they will embark upon a training programme to develop their management skills to complement their expertise learnt whilst working in a team leader capacity.

Ryan originally joined AECC in 2010 as part of the Momentum Pathways programme following a brain injury.  Momentum, in partnership with the Work Ahead project, provides specialist training and support for adults with a brain injury who want to return to work or further education.

Ryan’s been involved in many major events at the venue including Offshore Europe, All-Energy and the Press & Journal Energy Ball.  Having trained in the Dundee Football Academy as a youngster, a particular highlight has been his involvement in the Aberdeen Football Club Player of the Year Awards at AECC - giving him a chance to meet some heroes.

Originally from Switzerland Christopher has vast experience in the catering industry.  Starting at the age of seventeen, he has worked in a range of establishments including a creperie, a family restaurant, a bistro and Geneva airport.  He came to Aberdeen in 2008 to study Sociology and was employed at AECC in 2009 on a part-time basis.  His commitment and passion for the company and hospitality allowed him to work his way up to this current position.

Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of AECC said, “Having a strong reputation for high quality catering, these two appointments are important to the continuation of this level of service to our clients and visitors.”
