Durban ICC appoints Nicolette Elia-Beissel as Operations Director
The Durban International Convention Centre has announced the appointment of Nicolette Elia-Beissel to the role of Operations Director.Commenting on the appointment, Julie-May Ellingson, Chief Executive Officer, said “We are extremely pleased that Nicolette has accepted the position of Operations Director after acting in the position for eight months. Nicolette has a high level of expertise in operational management as well as in-depth industry knowledge and we are certain that she will be an asset to the business as we continue to improve operational excellence and build on our successes. This is an important year for the Durban ICC as we celebrate 15 years of operations and we look forward to many years of continued growth and success.”
Nicolette joined the Durban ICC in September 2008 as Exhibition Manager and has acted as Operations Director on a number of occasions.
Nicolette has over 12 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the ICC Nicolette worked for Thebe Exhibitions and Events where she gained valuable exhibition and project management experience. Prior to this Nicolette worked with The Inside Edge a destination management company and with the Hotel Group, Gooderson Leisure. On joining the ICC Nicolette was made responsible for project managing the annual Tourism Indaba, amongst other events. She also successfully project managed the COP17/CMP7 Climate Change conference, one of the three largest conferences held in the world, in November-December 2011.
Nicolette holds a Bachelor of Art’s Degree and Diplomas in Strategic Management and Graphic Design. Nicolette is also a member of a number of professional bodies including; UFI (International Exhibition Industry Association), Event Association of Southern Africa (EXSA) and the South African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI).
