Customer service is key focus for new Alea Leeds Venue Director
Entertainment venue, Alea Leeds, has appointed Charles Merchie as Venue Director. His role will be to reinforce Alea’s position as one of the city’s leading entertainment and conference venues. A key focus will be on delivering excellent customer experience, whilst building reputation and raising its profile.Charles brings thirty years of international experience gained in some of the world’s finest hotel groups and 3-star Michelin restaurants where he worked at Food & Beverage and General Manager levels. Latterly he was General Manager at Wood Hall Hotel and Spa in Wetherby, part of the Hand Picked Collection of hotels.
Commenting on his role, he said: “I want to make more people aware of the unique package that Alea Leeds offers. How many people realise that we provide event facilities that can cater for an intimate party of ten, to 200 for dinner or a reception for 500 people? We can offer all of that, in a contemporary and stylish setting, plus two award-winning restaurants and a private cinema. And of course, we have a fully-equipped casino floor too!”
He added: “I have a passion for customer service and one of my priorities will be to ensure that all our guests’ expectations are met. That begins in-house by building an excellent team who have the right attitude and a desire to make Alea Leeds the very best experience for everyone who visits. This is a people business and our job is to create much more than just a welcoming atmosphere; we are creating a dream and then delivering it.”
Charles will be responsible for a team of 120 covering Conference & Events, two restaurants: The Leeds Kitchen by James Martin & The Bird by Vineet, 5 Bars, a large Casino floor and a private cinema.
