Alan Gillies to spearhead sales for American Express Global Corporate Payments in the UK

American Express Global Corporate Payments has announced that Alan Gillies has been appointed as Vice President and Head of UK Sales for its UK division.
This move will see Gillies take on responsibility for accelerating American Express’ commercial payments presence with mid-sized and large businesses within the UK. This appointment  follows the recent launch of a number of American Express payment solutions tailored to the needs of these mid-sized and large businesses in the UK - from the American Express British Airways Corporate Card through to the Corporate Membership Rewards programme, which allows businesses to consolidate points into a single company account that can be redeemed for a variety of flexible corporate rewards.

Alan Gillies has spent all his career with American Express and has over 20 years experience in a number of increasingly senior positions within the Global Corporate Payments division, with responsibility for acquiring and managing some of the group’s largest clients. Prior to this appointment, Alan led American Express’ acquisition activities for SME corporate clients in the UK, Sweden and Norway.

Speaking of the appointment, Brendan Walsh, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Payments, Europe said “American Express’s Global Corporate Payments business continues to go from strength to strength as we continue to grow our presence in all sectors. We look set to further strengthen our business here in the UK with the appointment of Alan Gilles, who is an outstanding sales leader. Alan’s knowledge of the commercial payments business combined with his passion to deliver for the customer make him the ideal choice to spearhead our UK Sales activity for Global Commercial Payments. ”
