Recipe for success in hotel representation

Ellicis is a sibling team that provides a tailor-made service to hotels and organisers alike

Take two sisters.
Put one through a career in hotel management encompassing Trust House Forte, through Granada up to being Director of Sales UK & Ireland for Le Meridien. Steep the other in the airlines sector, right from a check-in chick at Heathrow to a ticket consultant in a big travel agency.
Then put the two together in a hotel representation company.
And what do you get? You get Ellicis Hotels.


The sisters are Jo Till and Kate Norris. ‘We have the skills and experience to ensure that we can talk the talk with UK event organisers to define exactly what they want; the knowhow to make sure that the hotels are a good match for the requirements and know exactly what has to be done; and the practical knowledge for assisting in planning a schedule with agents or client companies.”

In addition, Ellicis offers the facilities that clients should expect from a hotel representative. ‘We see ourselves as equally responsible to two sets of clients – the UK organisers and the hotel managements. They both have to have rapid responses to their enquiries. They both require data that is clear and logical and immediately relevant to their needs.’

Jo and Kate point out that they have a personal knowledge of the client hotels and their locations, so they can discuss these in detail with the UK clients. They accompany organisers on the site inspections, smoothing the way to all the right people and places. They also point out that all the clients get the same attention, regardless of the size of the company.

Which sister says what? It doesn’t matter. They speak with the same voice.

As they put it, jointly, ‘Some people say “How can two sisters get on together?”, whilst others say “How wonderful to work together!” We are very fortunate to be the kind of siblings who get on well and enjoy each other’s company. We find it stimulating to work together to build up the business and do a good job together for the hotels and the event managers.’

Ellicis represents Tiara Hotels & Resorts, a group with four established properties (Tiara Château Hotel Mont Royal Chantilly, Tiara Miramar Beach Hotel Cannes, Tiara Park Atlantic Lisboa and the Tiara Park Atlantic Porto) and a fifth new opening, the Tiara Yaktsa Cannes. This is a boutique hotel comprising 22 suites that look out to the blue of the Mediterranean across beautiful gardens. Soon to be added to the Tiara portfolio are the 148-room city centre Tiara Hotel Astoria Bruxelles. The Astoria has been a landmark in Brussels for 100 years and was closed for a total refurbishment before re-opening under the Tiara brand. ‘We have just taken on Hunter Hotels in South Africa’, say Jo and Kate. They are family-run properties that are members of Relais & Chateaux. Two are on the Garden Route outside Plettenberg Bay and others are in the Gorah Elephant Camp and in the Limpopo Province.

‘They will be terrific locations to offer’, says Ellicis. ‘They are malaria-free and ideal bases from which to see the Big Five in their natural habitat’.
