Jonathan Cohen, the former Head of Events for Visit Denmark, is making the knowhow he gained over the past 25 years available through his new business, Azimuth Marketing Communications’I haven’t had 25 years’ experience in the MICE sector’, insists Jonathan Cohen. ‘I have had 25 years of experiences.’ In essence he is saying that no matter what turns up, what problems have to be faced or what promotions have to be initiated, he has almost certainly come across them all before and can judge the best way to tackle them. ‘I know what works and what doesn’t work’, he says.
And all this knowhow can be tapped by National Tourist Offices, City Convention Bureaux, hotel groups or individual venues. Jonathan has set up a business called Azimuth Marketing Communications with a view to helping clients achieve their MICE marketing objectives more speedily and at lower cost. ‘I can help them gain a bigger share of the global MICE market. This can be achieved by avoiding all the mistakes I have seen made in the past and by adopting those approaches I have seen work successfully’, he maintains.
Jonathan spent 12 years working for Visit Denmark, latterly as Head of Business Events and International Sales & Marketing Manager. With Azimuth, his plan is to work for clients on a project basis. ‘I am not aiming to be anyone’s representative. I want to be contracted to getting things launched quickly into the MICE sector or providing a boost over a short period for an already established enterprise that has new targets in its sights.’
Jonathan has gained a wide range of skills in the MICE sector, from training salespeople and organising participation at exhibitions to managing road shows and even being the Keynote Speaker at international events.
‘I am now ready and eager’, he says, ‘to give clients the inside track on reaching their MICE marketing objectives. They can contract for any service for whatever length of time suits them best’.
