Maximum comfort and convenience on new HK-UK service

London executives of Hong Kong Airlines tell ITCM about the all-Club-Class daily flights

Since March 2012 there has been a new way to fly between Hong Kong and the UK. Hong Kong Airlines launched a daily flight to Gatwick North Terminal with a difference. It has dedicated two brand new Airbus 330-200 aircraft to the route. These are normally designed to carry 250 passengers, but for Hong Kong Airlines they have a configuration to seat 116 passengers in style.

James Sanderson, Manager of Marketing Services, UK, explains that ‘there are two cabins, but they are both Business Class. Club Classic has 82 seats, whilst Club Premier has just 34. Both cabins have mood lighting, access to their own bar and state-of-the-art on-demand entertainment systems.’

James is based in the Hong Kong Airlines office in London, where Gerard Clarke is the General Manager. Gerard, who hails from Ireland, emphasises that the airline, though new to the UK, has a very established reputation in the East. It is a member of the HNA Group, one of China’s large enterprises with tens of thousands of employees.

‘The HKA’s UK flights are non-stop and overnight in each direction’, he points out. ‘They depart at 9.15pm and arrive at 5.30am. This offers maximum convenience to passengers, because, with the comfort and service that we offer, they arrive fresh to start the day either in Hong Kong or in the UK.’

He also says that the routes can be very helpful for executives doing business in any part of China. ‘HKA serves a large number of different destinations in China through our Hong Kong hub and so our service can also be seen as a highly convenient link into China’.
