At the Business Travel Show in Earls Court, London, ITCM met Michael Schüller and Peter Manning of American Express Meetings & Events. Michael is Vice-President for Europe, Middle East and Asia, whilst Peter is Director of AEME in the UK. This specialist arm of American Express operates globally. It is one of the few organisations anywhere in the world’s MICE sector that can claim that it employs 1,000 people in over 100 countries and is responsible for 20,000 meetings a year!ExCel gets the first UK Aloft hotel

Aloft has arrived in the UK. Aloft is the hotel brand that Starwood first launched in June 2008. There are now 58 Aloft hotels and the UK is the seventh country to receive them. Already in the USA, Canada, China, the UAE, India and Belgium, they will soon be seen in Thailand, Colombia and Costa Rica. Tim Procter, MD of Air Charter Travel, tells ITCM why his company has seen 13% growth in revenue in its 20th year
The benefits that flow from the use of air charter are becoming increasingly evident to more companies; so much so that Air Charter Travel, based in the UK, has been able to report a 13% increase in business compared with the same period last year.‘Air charter is not chosen because of price’, Tim Procter maintains, very straightforwardly. Tim is Managing Director and founder of the broker Air Charter Travel, an enterprise that is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary. ‘Making the decision to fly on a chartered aircraft is in every case clearly seen as the obvious best way to achieve objectives. And this is easily illustrated in the MICE sector of business’, he continues.

Rotana’s first major hotel was the Rotana Beach in Abu Dhabi.
