With the opening of the new North South Highway between Kingston and Jamaica’s northern coast, Half Moon, an iconic resort in Jamaica, is the ideal retreat for those wanting to get out and explore more of what the island has to offer.

With its vibrant food and drink scene, Jamaica is the perfect destination for gourmands and rum connoisseurs alike. Taking place from 26th-30th October 2016, the Jamaica Food & Drink Festival will give visitors the opportunity to embark on a culinary journey through the palatable flavours of the island. With over 30 top local chefs and an array of cooking demonstrations and events, the festival will keep every foodie’s appetite satiated.

From 25th-29th October 2016, luxury Jamaican resort Half Moon will welcome Italian Guest Chef Giovanni Ciresa, from Hotel Bauer in Venice, to its recently re-launched The Sugar Mill Restaurant. Built next to a historic 17th century sugar mill, the restaurant is one of the most renowned fine dining establishments in Jamaica. Chef Giovanni Ciresa will work alongside Half Moon to create an exclusive culinary experience combining Italian cuisine with traditional and locally grown Jamaican ingredients.   

Reggae marathon in Negril
On 3rd December 2016, keen runners and reggae fans will have the opportunity to take part in the popular annual “Reggae Marathon”. Taking place along Negril’s famed white sand beach, participants will run to the reggae beat with local bands jamming during the race. The mostly flat course loops into the town of Negril then heads north towards the town of Green Island. For those wanting to take a slightly more chilled option, a Half Marathon and 10K are also available.  

When not out exploring the island’s array of events, Half Moon is the ideal base for travellers seeking luxury and activity. It is located just ten minutes by car from (MBJ) Sangster International Airport, a two-hour drive from Kingston and an hour and forty minutes by car from Negril. Half Moon offers a plethora of activities, including a golf academy at the resort’s 18-hole championship golf course, the Fern Tree tennis programme, water sports, and an equestrian centre.
