ITCM’s Michelle Chenery reports on the new facilities at Silverstone’s Stowe Complex

A multi-million pound upgrade at Silverstone has introduced new facilities for the Silverstone Stowe Circuit. They include nine new pit garages, two hospitality buildings, new corners for the old track plus a separate wet grip handling track, split grip braking pad and an off-road stage.

The hospitality buildings are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Lighting rigs and a sound system can be set up and clients have the option of total branding of the building for an event.
One hospitality suite can cater for up to 100 guests, the other for up to 60. Both have briefing rooms and roof terraces giving views over the track and the pit lanes.
The Stowe Circuit is a 1.15 mile licensed track, capable of being run in six different configurations, both clockwise and anti-clockwise, with all manner of corners and one long straight. Alongside this are the wet grip handling facilities where under-steer and over-steer effects can be experienced, as well as testing a car’s capabilities on sheet ice or wet tarmac.
Also on the complex is the split braking pad, simulating the effects of sheet ice, snow and wet tarmac, allowing for driver training in a number of braking techniques. Helicopter tours of the track and surrounding area are now on offer with the additional Heli-Air base within the grounds of Silverstone, only a two-minute ride from the Stowe Complex.
