Macdonald Hotels & Resorts signs up to 2012 Fair Pricing Charter

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has become the first national hotel group to sign up to the 2012 UK Events Industry Fair Pricing & Practice Charter. The significant move commits all 45 of its UK properties to maintaining value and ensuring fairness of pricing leading up to and during the Olympic Games in 2012.
The Charter, created by Visit London and VisitBritain and endorsed and supported by LOCOG, was launched in 2009 to ensure hotels, venues and hospitality suppliers keep their pricing both fair and reasonable during the period of the Games, and to avoid price hikes which have affected previous host cities. The Charter, the first of its kind to be created for a major international event, now has over 350 signatories.

Sales and Marketing Director at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, Ruaridh Macdonald, commented; “We recognise that the 2012 Olympic Games presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase our product on a global stage, and as a major provider of accommodation, conference and event facilities throughout the UK, it was essential that we demonstrate our commitment to fair pricing and sign the Charter.”

David Sharpe, Managing Director of the London Eye and Chair of the Events 2012 Development Group, the industry body who manages the Charter, added; “Having a major national group such as Macdonald Hotels make this commitment to the Charter is a significant step in our drive to ensure that those visiting London and the UK leading up to and during the Games in 2012 have the best possible experience and leave with a positive and lasting impression of our hospitality industry.”
