De Vere Venues is opening new premises at Canary Wharf, London, on 2 June 2008. However, Tony Dangerfield, Chief Operating Officer of De Vere Venues, suggests that 'sadly the outside air in big cities simply isn t good enough quality, especially in the summer. For business people to perform at their best they need good quality air. We provide clean air in all our meeting rooms, but we also propose to give delegates a chance of a blast of pure oxygen as they enter to give them the kick start they need to function at their best. 'Oxygen canisters, therefore, will be available to all delegates at Canary Wharf. 'We are simply replicating', says Tony, 'the better air quality that all our countryside properties report has a positive effect on people at conferences.'
Dr Apelles Econs, a specialist in Allergies and Environmental Medicine, says: ''Pollutants in high concentration can cause 'Hypoxia' - a shortage of oxygen in the body. Any attempts in the working place to enrich air with oxygen is likely to be beneficial and you can expect people to be more revitalised and alert and for work rates to improve. The effects would be very similar to air purifiers which use filters to trap fine and large particles. The safety of oxygen is 100 per cent and is the best thing to go for.''
