Scarborough's 2-day event will highlight its progress
Scarborough is staging an International Business Forum 2008 to show the progress it has made as a business and financial centre. It is taking place at the SPA Complex, South Bay, Scarborough on 5th - 6th November 2008.
The town has invested over £200m in Urban Renaissance and is proud of its re-designed social and economic infrastructure.
The organisers of the event are Scarborough Business Association (SBA), Yorkshire Forward and Scarborough Future. At a time when UK businesses can receive a boost of £2.1bn for being eco-conscious, Scarborough has adopted a green and sustainable economic and social strategy concurrent with its business growth, which will be reflected throughout the two-day event.
One of the key challenges has been to unlock the potential of the town through renaissance and encouragement of specific sectors including the creative and cultural sectors. The creative industry in Scarborough accounts for 19% of the town's economy.
The town has the UK's first free Wi-Fi seafront and harbour area, with the connections of 100MB, making it one of the fastest in Europe.
