New Raffles resort for Hainan Island, China, in 2011
Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will manage a new resort at the Qingshui Bay in Sanya, China's growing resort destination.
Raffles Sanya, Qingshui Bay will be the group's third property in China - following Raffles Beijing Hotel, which opened in December 2006, and the Raffles Tianjin, scheduled to open in 2009.
Sanya is a resort destination in the southernmost part of China. It is located on the island of Hainan, the only destination in China that offers a tropical climate all year round.
With a beach-front location, the resort will have 250 guestrooms, with a minimum size of 70sqm and overlooking Qingshui Bay, as well as 36 villas offering views of either the ocean or the adjacent championship golf course.
Raffles Sanya, Qingshui Bay will include seven restaurants and bars, and a 2,000sqm RafflesAmrita Spa, which is now a component of all Raffles hotels. There will be a 720sqm ballroom and four meeting rooms. The courtyard will offer an outdoor alternative for events.
Golf enthusiasts will have access to the adjacent championship golf course; while the marina, water sport centre and nearby retail village will add to the leisure options available to residents
