Merlin buys London Aquarium

The visitor attraction operator, Merlin Entertainments, is the new owner of the London Aquarium, located in County Hall on the South Bank, next to the London Eye. Merlin Entertainments now intends to invest £5m in further developing both the displays and the infrastructure of the London Aquarium in order to underline its position as an aquarium and corporate events venue.
The Aquarium is a venue for corporate hospitality and private events, and also used as a location where guests socialise amidst the marine environment. The Aquarium has three zones, and each can be used for a corporate event individually, or combined to accommodate up to 1,000 guests for a reception, or 180 for a reception and dinner.
The 'Tropical Rainforest and Mangrove Zone' is for pre-dinner drinks or reception. Features are a tropical foliage environment with waterfalls, and an opportunity to view an archer fish being fed by aquarists.

The 'Pacific Zone' is for receptions of up to 150 or dinners for up to 60 guests. The zone contains different breeds of shark, up to two and a half metres long. Guests also watch divers swim amongst them, and the host may brand the diver's air tanks with a company logo.
The 'Atlantic Zone' holds a reception for up to 250 or a seated dinner for up to 180 guests. Sharks, stingrays, octopi and jellyfish are held in water tanks and guests may watch them being fed by divers.
