Feline medicine event for Edinburgh

The European Society of Feline Medicine (ESFM) has selected Edinburgh as the venue to host its 2008 Congress. The society was founded in 1996 to promote and assist vets' growing interests in feline medicine. Scotland is ranked 7th among the UK regions of pet owners. The ESFM congress is one of 13 new events that the ECB has helped bring to the city and 4,130 delegates are expected to add £5.1m to the local economy.
More than 300 veterinaries and professionals involved in the care of cats will arrive at Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in the city for a 4-day event from 25th to the 28th September.. The Edinburgh Convention Bureau (ECB) estimates it will be worth £500,000 to the local economy.
Sue Stuart, Chief Executive of ECB, commented: 'Edinburgh has a world-wide reputation for excellence in the field of veterinary medicine and we are delighted to welcome the ESFM delegates to the city.'
