Think Pink! An innovative new concept at Langham Place, Beijing Capital Airport
Coinciding with the 147th anniversary of the Langham brand, Langham Place, Beijing Capital Airport hosted its first-ever Innovation Festival from 11-15 June 2012 to introduce a breakthrough hospitality concept across Langham hotels worldwide – catchily titled, ‘Think Pink’.Since the opening of Europe’s first ‘Grand Hotel’ in London in 1865, Langham has been at the forefront of innovative hospitality. As the world’s first “airport lifestyle hotel” Langham Place, Beijing Capital Airport is a perfect example of this spirit of innovation.
‘Think Pink’ is a cutting-edge platform designed to continue elevating the Langham Group to achieve dazzling ‘brand signatures’ through new-concept services, products and sustainability initiatives. The name ‘Think Pink’ reflects Langham’s corporate pink, a colour that is enchanting, memorable and, typically, innovative.
Langham Place, Beijing Capital Airport introduced the breakthrough ‘Think Pink’ initiative to China at an exclusive party for 100 VIP guests and media hosted at hotel gastro-pub Fuel on 15 June. The campaign is centred around a ‘Think Pink’ Portal. This interactive and transparent online platform allows Langham colleagues to contribute innovative ideas and give feedback on new projects in development. Great ideas can strike at any time, so the portal allows for uploading via web, email or SMS and offers a dynamic real-time discussion across departments and hotels.
Six great ideas generated by Langham Place, Beijing Capital Airport staff on the ‘Think Pink’ Portal were shared during the Beijing party. These included installing a Flight Check-in Service within the airport hotel; creating a Green Space across the building’s rooftop; and getting an Electric Buggy to zoom guests and their baggage through the large hotel.
Hotel guests are also encouraged to be part of this innovation process and are invited to submit their own ideas via the cards provided in guestrooms and restaurants, or directly online at www.langhamhotels.com/innovations.
To mark its birthday, Langham Hotels Group also published a ‘Think Pink’ Brochure in June detailing 147 years of outstanding global initiatives – from 1865, when The Langham London was the first hotel in the world to offer hydraulically-operated lifts and hot/cold running water, to very contemporary innovations like iPod Art Tours and pioneering green initiatives.
Did you know that Langham also has its own private label red wine, four signature blend teas and exclusive chocolate bars available at Flavours of Langham retail stores worldwide? Or that ‘Change of the Day’ is a unique day-to-night ritual performed at ‘1865’ (7:05pm) each evening across all Langham hotels, with each ritual referencing the history or location of the hotel? These, and many more innovative delights are explained in the ‘Think Pink’ Brochure, which is available in all guestrooms, as well as at the reception, concierge and hotel restaurants.
