QHotels rolls out electric car charging stations across the group
QHotels, an award-winning collection of 21 unique hotels across the UK, will have strengthened its environmental credentials by installing electric car charging stations across 20 of its hotels by the end of 2012.The charging stations enable subscribers to Polar Chargemaster to charge their vehicles at the hotels for between one to three hours. The Electric Car Package includes use of a hotel room for up to four hours to freshen up, light refreshments and free internet access while their car battery is charged. For those looking to break their journey for longer, excellent overnight packages are also available.
The car stations, complete with electric charging posts have now been installed at the Ashford International Hotel, The Hampshire Court Hotel, Bridgewood Manor and The Oxford Belfry and will be rolled out across all of the hotels (excluding The Midland Hotel) by the end of 2012.
QHotels' Managing Director and chair of its CSR steering group, Michael Purtill said: “At QHotels we are committed to saving energy and providing an environmentally-friendly setting for guests. Rolling out the electric car charging stations will ensure guests can charge their cars when staying with us.
“This follows initiatives like our Conference with a Conscience package, launched late last year, which gives delegates the chance to offset the carbon they use at our hotels to benefit third world carbon reduction projects. To date we have received more than £126,000 worth of conference business, which offset the carbon they used, supporting a run-of-the-river hydropower project in Brazil.”
This move follows excellent energy saving for QHotels, with an average reduction in energy usage across the group of 12.4% since 2008 In 2010, QHotels secured The Carbon Trust Accreditation and was awarded the AA Eco Hotel Group accolade in 2011.
Plans to further improve the group’s energy efficiency in 2012 include installation of Biomasss heating with Norton Park already operating and the installation Of Voltage optimisation equipment continuing to lower energy consumption and Carbon emissions across all 21 of its hotels.
